About Us

Founded in 2014, Comfort Food Community (CFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing access to fresh, wholesome food throughout Washington, Warren and Saratoga counties. CFC’s work connects three elements that are essential to building strong and healthy communities: Food Access, Food Recovery, and Food as Health. This is achieved through their dynamic operation of programs including: weekly Food Pantry services, Supplemental Student Nutrition for schools, the Fresh Food Collective delivery network, Food Farmacy and Glens Falls Farmers Market Outreach: individual produce prescription programs for individuals with pre-existing chronic health conditions, and Edible Education offering culinary classes for children and adults.

CFC works with local farmers to eliminate food waste through their Food Recovery Project, gleaning excess produce on local farms and recovering products from farmers markets and grocery stores that would otherwise go to waste. Comfort Food Community strives to break down systemic barriers by engaging entire communities through food and nutrition education, wellness coaching, and health resource navigation.
