Common Roots Foundation Awards $35,000 in Grants to Support 16 Organizations in the Greater Capital Region

Since its beginning in 2020, more than $218,000 awarded in support of environmental sustainability, community wellness, and neighbors in need

The Common Roots Foundation announced nearly $35,000 in grants awarded to 16 organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life throughout the Capital Region. With this latest round of awards, the Foundation–established in 2020 following a 2020 fire at the Common Roots Brewing Company–has distributed more than $218,000 in grants.

This is the second grant cycle to include projects in Albany, expanding the Foundation’s footprint as the Brewing Company opened its Albany Outpost location.

“At a time when so many organizations working to help others are facing financial uncertainty, it’s inspiring to see how people are trying to make a difference in their communities, and I am proud we are able to support them,” said Bert Weber, President of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

“We’re deeply grateful to our members, sponsors, and customers for making this possible,” Weber continued. “I encourage anyone who wants to get involved–whether it’s through our weekly bike rides and runs, volunteer opportunities, or Foundation membership. Together, we can continue to invest in meaningful, local change.”

The Foundation raises funds throughout the year through a membership program, events, tax-deductible donations, and business partners, including our Legacy Sponsors Boralex and The Devlin - Lake Placid Hotel. So far this year the Foundation has held a cycle-a-thon in Glens Falls, Spring Gathering, and its first golf tournament. Upcoming events include a 5k along the Betar Byway and Beat the Brewers disc golf competition.
